Correspondence Generation

There are two main ways the application can generate correspondence: batch (also called system) and online (also called user).

In batch correspondence, the application automatically generate correspondence based on a pre-defined schedule. The user doesn't do anything to make batch correspondence happen: it just happens.

In online correspondence, the user directs the whole process. First, the user navigates to the screen where the correspondence can be generated and clicks the Correspondence button. Next, the user selects the correspondence they want to generate, and fills in any parameters associated with the correspondence. Finally, they generate that exact correspondence with those exact parameters.

Once generated, the correspondence may have options to edit it, or it may not. The last step in any correspondence process usually involves printing it, so it can be sent, and archiving it somewhere, usually FileNet.

An individual correspondence may be batch or online, or it may be both.
